Outback in the Ozarks is THE overnight endurance relay that will challenge you in the spirit of teamwork and fun with your family and friends. We are Northwest Arkansas’ most exciting and beautiful race! Our race begins in Historic Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and winds through 205-miles of the stunningly scenic “Ozark Outback” finishing up near vibrant Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Think of us as a high-speed walkabout through the best that the Natural State  has to offer. From panoramic mountain vistas and rolling valleys, to winding rivers, lush National Forests and 5 scenic State Parks, Outback in the Ozarks will take you to another land down under full of fun and adventure!

Whether you’re a novice or an elite runner, Outback in the Ozarks has something for you. Each standard team consists of 8-12 runners running 3 legs each.
Legs vary from 2 to 8 miles of diverse terrain. There is also an ultra team division made up of 4-6member teams. The end result is 205-miles covered over two days and one night, ending with an Outdoor Finish Line Festival with a band and a barbie.

Running a 205-mile relay is an over night adventure with your best mates. You will laugh, you will cheer. You’ll feel exhausted and exhilarated. You’ll overcome challenges with the help of your friends and never forget running under the stars!

Our Mission

Our mission is to bring people together to accomplish something great that they could never do alone. We provide an exceptional race experience that prioritizes secondary roads, single track trails and scenic rural routes. We have created a beautiful course that winds through the Ozark Outback and 5 State Parks and allows us the opportunity to support the rural volunteer fire departments who receive very little in government funding.  Together, our team-building experience and community support makes Outback in the Ozarks a unique and unforgettable opportunity for families, friends and corporations.

Community Support

Volunteer Fire Fighters

Outback in the Ozarks exists because of the generous support of the volunteer fire departments throughout the 200-mile course. Many of them receive very little funding and this is an opportunity to obtain additional support. We donate thousands of dollars each year to the rural, underfunded fire houses throughout Northwest Arkansas.

Friends of Hobbs State Park

Hobbs State Park is a wonderful resource for our runners as they get to experience the well-maintened trails and relax in the beautiful Lodge. We are grateful we can help support the Friends of Hobbs non-profit which provides funding for educational programs including teachers and volunteers to be employed at the Hobbs State Park Nature Center.
